HVEA provided construction inspection services for this project which replaces the existing bridge carrying West Washington Avenue over the Pascack Brook with a new single span 80-foot-long structure. The project also includes improvements to the horizontal and vertical alignment of West Washington Avenue. The bridge will be replaced on an adjacent (upstream) alignment which will allow for geometric improvements to the roadway and allow traffic to be maintained on the existing bridge during construction.

The bridge replacement and roadway realignment project also includes improvements to Pascack Brook to address historical flooding and erosion caused by poor stream alignment and an inadequate bridge hydraulic opening. The project involves realigning the streambed for better flow under the new bridge, requiring extensive tree clearing. Additionally, it incorporates riparian enhancements such as cross vanes, flow deflectors, riffle/pool control structures, and extensive stream bank plantings.
